Roseman University Awarded NACDS Foundation Scholarship
Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy has been awarded a scholarship through the Annual National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation Scholarship Program. The scholarship was one of six innovation-focused awards in the amount of $20,000. It will be used to develop a disease state management patient care program within the Nevada Department of Corrections. The program is expected to advance health equity and improve health outcomes.
Nevada Hospitals Receive an “A” in Safety
Four Nevada hospitals recently received a grade of “A” in safety from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. Two hospitals in northern Nevada, Northern Nevada Medical Center and Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, as well as two southern Nevada hospitals, Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center and Henderson Hospital, were all graded on 20 performance measures from errors and accidents to hospital systems designed to prevent harm.
Loan Program Started from Settlement Funds
The Nevada Board of Examiners has approved the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development’s (GOED) contract with Access Community Capital in southern Nevada. The contract will administer a minority-focused direct loan program to target startups and new businesses based on the utilization of $6 million from the Attorney General’s office T-Mobile and Sprint merger settlement from 2019. The primary goal for this project is a Nevada Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) fund with a direct focus on minority small business financing.
North Las Vegas Breaks Ground on Veterans Resource Center
The City of North Las Vegas has broken ground on a Veterans Resource Center. The center will provide veterans and military members with information about resources and social services as well as a space to collaborate with service providers, have meetings and join community programming and activities. The center is was financed with funds from the American Rescue Plan. The center is expected to open by the end of the year.
