JFSA Las Vegas is hosting its largest annual fundraiser, the 17th Annual Tzedakah Brunch, on April 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Durango Casino & Resort, 6915 South Durango Drive, in Las Vegas. The event will honor the Berkley and Lehrner family for its service to the Las Vegas community.
“Both Mayor Shelley Berkley and Dr. Lehrner have committed their lives and careers to serving the needs of all of us who call Nevada home, and we are delighted to honor them at our largest fundraising event of the year,” said Ken Moskowitz, JFSA’s president and CEO.
Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkely served in the House of Representatives for seven terms before running for mayor. Her husband, Dr. Lawrence Lehrner, M.D., a local nephrologist, runs his own large medical practice, while advocating for healthcare improvements in the Las Vegas Valley. He currently sits on the Clark County Medical Society board of trustees.
Proceeds from the event support JFSA Las Vegas efforts to help Southern Nevada’s medically and financially hardest hit. JFSA Las Vegas provides adoption, behavioral health services, emergency assistance, senior support, and is also the Southern Nevada Resource Center for Nevada Care Connection, which helps older adults and those with disabilities access the resources they need in order to live independently.
Las Vegas also makes a significant impact for those who are food insecure. Last year, the nonprofit delivered more than 8,500 meals and hopes to expand on that number in 2025. Behavioral health support is another way JFSA supports Southern Nevadans. Last year, it provided more than 2,100 counseling sessions and connected many others to mental health providers through Nevada Care Connection.
