Nevada Mental Health, one of the state’s largest psychiatric practices, just started offering SPRAVATO®, a nasal mist ketamine treatment option for patients in its interventional psychiatry program.
SPRAVATO® is FDA approved and covered by most insurance plans for treatment-resistant depression.
“The evidence shows that ketamine is an extremely effective and safe treatment for patients dealing with depression,” said Dr. Natalie Phan, manager of Nevada Mental Health’s interventional psychiatry program. “This FDA-approved intervention is especially promising for patients who have found other forms of treatment to be ineffective or who have experienced side effects from medications.”
In addition to SPRAVATO®, Nevada Mental Health also offers intramuscular ketamine therapy, another effective option for treatment-resistant depression. Both forms of ketamine therapy have proven to benefit patients, but fewer insurance plans cover intramuscular ketamine injections for MDD, a highly prevalent psychiatric condition that affects about 12% of adults in the U.S.
Nevada Mental Health serves the insurance-based patient population with evidence-based psychiatric services.
