Annual event continues to fund scholarships for young adult cancer survivors
RENO, Nev. – My Hometown Heroes is excited to announce the 6th annual Heroes Night Out, a heartfelt event dedicated to helping fund scholarships for young adult cancer survivors. The event, in partnership with the Dragon Lights Reno, will take place on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wilbur D. May Center, offering attendees the chance to enjoy a night of inspiration followed by VIP access to one of Reno’s most anticipated events of the fall.
Over the past five years, the Heroes Night Out initiative has funded more than $100,000 in scholarships to help college-bound cancer survivors achieve their educational goals. This year’s event continues that tradition, offering attendees an evening filled with delicious food and drink, networking, live music and a silent auction featuring an array of beautiful photography, autographed sports memorabilia, gift packages and other great prizes.
“Heroes Night Out is a celebration of resilience and hope,” said Danny Heinsohn, founder and executive director of My Hometown Heroes. “We’re excited to continue our mission of supporting these remarkable young people as they pursue their college dreams.”
Heroes Night Out attendees will enjoy food and beverage items provided by a variety of vendors, including Cherry Bomb Catering, IMBiB Custom Brews, Sushi Pier, Fig Tree Catering, Parlay 6 Brewing Company, Cali Mojo and others inside the Wilbur D. May Center Garden Atrium.
A special presentation from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. will highlight the stories of scholarship recipients and their families, culminating in a heartfelt speech from this year’s honorary scholarship recipient, who will share their journey from cancer to college.
At the conclusion of Heroes Night Out, attendees are invited to extend their evening with exclusive access to the Dragon Lights VIP Opening Reception. Simply walk over to the arboretum, and your Heroes Night Out wristband will grant you early admission to experience the dazzling Dragon Lights Festival before it officially opens to the public the following night.
