LAS VEGAS–Nevada Donor Network announces the acquisition of a prominent building located at 1050 E Sahara Avenue, marking a significant milestone in advancing its mission to save and heal lives through organ, tissue, and eye donation and transplantation.
The newly acquired 35,000 square-foot building will serve as the cornerstone for Nevada Donor Network’s innovative Donor Care Unit (DCU), a transformative initiative designed to enhance efficiencies and improve outcomes across all facets of the donation process. Spearheading this endeavor is Elizabeth Shipman, Vice President of Organ Operations at Nevada Donor Network, who envisions the DCU as a beacon of hope for heroic donor families and transplant candidates awaiting a second chance at life and health.
“The establishment of our Donor Care Unit represents a monumental step forward in our commitment to serve our community,” said Shipman. “Through this initiative, we aim to revolutionize the donation process, ensuring that every donor’s legacy lives on through the gift of life.”
The DCU will encompass state-of-the-art clinical and administrative areas, meticulously designed to optimize the donation process from start to finish. Drawing upon a model deployed by Organ Procurement Organizations nationwide, the DCU promises to deliver unparalleled advancements in organ and tissue transplantation.
Dr. Guang Tsai, medical director of Nevada Donor Network, who has dedicated nearly two decades to advancing donor care anticipates the DCU will revolutionize patient outcomes. “As a physician deeply invested in the field of organ donation and transplantation, I am confident that the establishment of our Donor Care Unit will propel us toward even greater achievements in our mission,” said Dr. Tsai. “This initiative will enable us to deliver superior care to our patients and the broader community, ultimately saving more lives through the power of organ and tissue donation.”
With the support from the state-issued ARPA grant funds, the acquisition of the building and subsequent remodeling efforts signal Nevada Donor Network’s unwavering dedication to advancing the field of transplantation and honoring the legacy of organ, eye and tissue donors. Nevada Donor Network anticipates the inauguration of its DCU in the near future, marking a new chapter in the organization’s pursuit of excellence in donation and transplantation. The DCU is expected to open and begin operations in the first quarter of 2025.
