[LAS VEGAS, Nev.] – May 12, 2023 – Clark County Credit Union (CCCU) recognized ten member students with its annual Smart Start Scholarship. This program is part of the credit union’s ongoing effort to help CCCU members reach their financial goals and dreams. Each recipient of the Smart Start Scholarship received a $1,000 scholarship paid directly to their college or university.
“The credit union understands that sometimes finances can get in the way of educational pursuits,” said Matt Kershaw, CCCU President and CEO. “Our Smart Start Scholarship is one way we can help lessen the financial burden and give support to our members’ children along their path to financial freedom. The other way is through ongoing free financial education available to all on our website.”
The Smart Start Scholarship Committee selected the winners based on the students’ GPA, volunteer/extracurricular activities, and their essay response to the provided prompt, “In what ways are you adjusting your money and spending habits to account for inflation in our current economy and what financial topics you would want to learn about that would help with your future finances?”
