October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and CAMCO is partnering with Nevada Association of Community Managers (NACM) to raise funds for breast cancer research and the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides of Las Vegas Breast Cancer Walk, which will be held on Oct. 20, 7 a.m., at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa.
“Community engagement is a big part of our mission, and this year we’re proud to continue our commitment to supporting breast cancer research,” said Mary Rendina, CAMCO’s marketing director. “Our spirit team works hard all year long to create events that are both fun and help raise money for a good cause, and we know this year’s fundraising efforts will be better than ever.”
This year’s fundraising goal is $2,000, and to raise the money, NACM and CAMCO have partnered for several initiatives, including:
- Wiener Wednesday: Hot dogs, beverages and t-shirts sold on Wienie Wednesday went towards the fundraising goal. More than 50 attendees were present at the Sept. 25th event at CAMCO’s Teco Road office.
- Jean Days: Throughout October, employees support breast cancer awareness by buying the opportunity to wear jeans at work for $5/day, $15/week or $60/month.
- Race Day, Oct. 20: CAMCO’s Team “Nockers,” which has grown from about 12 to 40 today, will participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
