Now in its 13th year, the Spring Giant Student Farmers Market gives students the opportunity to sell school-grown produce and handmade crafts while applying lessons in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, STEM, and teamwork in a real-world setting with funds going back to support their school garden and hydroponics programs.
The event brought together students, educators, families, and community members for a vibrant Earth Day celebration centered on student achievement, sustainability, and hands-on learning.
The Giant Student Farmers Market is one of Green Our Planet’s signature programs, giving students the opportunity to apply lessons in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, STEM, and sustainability in a real-world setting. Through the experience, students gain confidence as they grow products, engage customers, manage money, and work together toward a shared goal.
“Green entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful ways to prepare young people for the future,” said Ciara Byrne, CEO of Green Our Planet. “At this market, students are not just selling produce and products—they are learning how to think like entrepreneurs, problem-solvers, scientists, and leaders. They are discovering that they can create value, serve their community, and help build a more sustainable world.”
The market was presented by Credit One Bank, a longtime supporter of Green Our Planet’s school garden and “Farmpreneur” programs across the Clark County School District. Additional support was provided by Las Vegas Sands Cares, Cox Communications, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Clark County School District, Howard Hughes, Lazy Dog, Western Alliance Bank, and Aristocrat.
“At Credit One Bank, we believe students deserve opportunities to build real-world skills early,” said Tanisha Perry, Senior Manager of Facilities at Credit One Bank. “The Giant Student Farmers Market helps young people develop financial confidence, entrepreneurial thinking, and communication skills—tools that will serve them for life.”
Since launching in 2013, Green Our Planet has grown into one of the largest school garden and hydroponics education programs in the United States, reaching more than 1,300 schools in 44 states. Through its programs, students build skills in STEM, nutrition, conservation, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and marketing while growing confidence, curiosity, and connection to the natural world.
The Giant Student Farmers Market is a powerful expression of Green Our Planet’s mission, giving students the chance to turn classroom learning into lived experience while inviting the wider Las Vegas community to support the next generation of growers, makers, and entrepreneurs.
