
Workforce Connections, Southern Nevada’s local workforce development board, welcomes Nevada Superintendent of Public Instruction Jhone Ebert as a new board member.
Ebert was appointed to a two-year term on the Workforce Connections (WC) Board. Her appointment was approved by the WC Local Elected Officials Consortium during its regular meeting on April 9.
As the Nevada Superintendent of Public Instruction, Ebert works to ensure that each of the 500,000 students at the state’s 750 schools has a pathway to thrive in school and life.
In her role, Ebert has expanded career and technical education opportunities to ensure students are college and career ready, spearheaded effective educator retention and recruitment efforts, and turned Nevada into a leader for computer science education.
Ebert is the recipient of numerous professional honors and awards, including the UNLV College of Education Alumna of the Year, International Society for Technology in Education’s 2020 Annual Impact Award, National School Boards Association’s Technology Leadership Network 20 to Watch, CCSD Excellence in Education Hall of Fame Award, and Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching.
The WC Board oversees activities under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014. The Board is comprised of a diverse group of people familiar with the local labor market and the economic forces impacting Southern Nevada. They work to align resources toward effective workforce development to meet local area needs. Board members represent various areas in the community, including business, labor organizations, educational institutions, community service organizations, and professional service associations.
