Athlete safety takes center stage at the VFA Summer Games 2026, where every registered participant will receive a complimentary electrocardiogram, or ECG, heart screening as part of their participation. The initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to prioritizing health and ensuring young people’s well-being.
Each screening will be reviewed by the VFA Medical Advisory Team, including Pediatric Electrophysiologist Dr. Ricardo Samson, will review each screening to identify potential heart conditions that a routine sports physical might miss. Screenings are quick, non-invasive and conducted at scheduled events leading up to the Games, giving families valuable insights before competition begins.
“Our goal is simple,” said a VFA Executive Director, Troy Roques. “We hope to have every athlete to step onto the field screened, informed and confident in their health and safety.”

Follow-up guidance if neededResults are typically returned within 14 business days. To ensure results are received before competition, athletes must complete registration by April 15, 2026. Screenings completed after this date will still be processed; however, results may not be available before the VFA Summer Games begin.

The VFA Summer Games, is a awareness event for heart screening, dedicated to prioritizing athlete health first through comprehensive screenings while showcasing youth talent in multiple sports. The event awards more than $100,000 in prizes, empowering the next generation of athletes both on and off the field.Presented by title sponsor DNA Vibe, the VFA Summer Games is more than a tournament. It is a full-scale athlete experience designed to elevate competition, community and athlete safety. Kicking off June 22, 2026, at the Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex, the opening ceremony brings thousands together for a high-energy celebration featuring a torch ceremony, an athlete parade, live entertainment, and memorable moments that set the tone for the week. From June 24–26, athletes will compete in baseball, basketball, flag football, hockey, pickleball, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and more. The event will culminate in championship finals and a citywide closing celebration at Cowabunga Bay Water Park, featuring a glow-in-the-dark experience.
Every participant receives a complimentary ECG heart screening reviewed by the VFA Medical Advisory Team, helping detect potential cardiac conditions and ensuring athletes step onto the field informed and confident. Registration includes three days of competition, opening ceremony access for one guardian, a swag bag featuring a high-tech DNA Vibe recovery device and access to pre-event heart screening opportunities at locations including UNLV Lied Athletic Complex, NYS Academy Center, and DNA Vibe.
