“We are honored to support the West Career and Technical Academy Mock Trial Team as they head to nationals to represent Nevada. Ash and I admire their dedication and commitment to the law industry, and we’re appreciative of the opportunity to give back to the community by supporting this talented team,” says Sam Mirejovsky, Partner at Sam & Ash Injury Law.
The West Tech Team will be competing alongside 47 other teams, including an international team from South Korea and teams from various United States territories. Two law firms, Sam & Ash Injury Law and Gillock & Coggeshall, have each donated $5,000 to support The West Tech Team’s trip. Additionally, the State Bar of Nevada is contributing $3,000. In addition to the sponsorships provided, the Mayor’s office plans to honor the West Tech Mock Trial teams alongside West Tech’s “We the People” team on April 10.
The We The People team, led by Mr. Ryan Handlon earned a wildcard for the national competition in Washington DC, making this only the third team in twenty-three years to be invited from Southern Nevada to compete at nationals. The Mayor’s office will also celebrate the school’s achievement in Magnet school excellence, with Principal Ms. Rozar nominated for National Magnet School Principal of the Year.
