Nevada State University has named Dr. Bernnell Peltier-Glaze as the new dean of the School of Education and will assume the role starting April 1. Dr. Peltier-Glaze will oversee the School of Education, with an enrollment of over 700 students pursuing degrees in elementary education, special education, secondary education and speech pathology. She will also lead the faculty, staff and student teachers to advance the university’s teaching, research and support services.
“It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Dr. Bernnell Peltier-Glaze as the new dean of the School of Education for Nevada State University,” said Nevada State University President DeRionne Pollard. “Dr. Peltier-Glaze brings a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to shaping the future educators of America. As we look ahead, we are confident that her leadership efforts will play a pivotal role in bridging the workforce gaps in Nevada.”
Most recently, Dr. Peltier-Glaze served as the interim dean of the College of Education at Texas Southern University. Under her leadership, the Texas Southern University College of Education implemented outreach programs and established new community partnerships that led to a surge of undergraduate and graduate student enrollment. Before that, Dr. Peltier-Glaze served in a myriad of educational leadership positions, including a Houston K-12 teacher, a school principal as well as the Texas Southern University Associate Dean and Interim Educational Leadership Department Chair. Her experiences have equipped her with expertise in budgeting, grant funding, and faculty support that will guide the Nevada State University School of Education to success.
“I am truly honored and excited to join Nevada State University as the new dean of the College of Education,” said Dr. Bernnell Peltier-Glaze. “I am eager to channel my experiences working in educational leadership to foster a learning environment that empowers educators and students. My previous role at Texas Southern University has provided me with a breadth of experiences working with student populations and high impact teaching practices. I look forward to bringing all of this experience to my work at Nevada State.”
