Executive Chef Sterling Buckley’s culinary journey is one defined by passion and creativity. Hailing from Los Angeles, Chef Sterling’s fascination with food began in his childhood, where he experimented with flavors alongside his brother. His dedication to the culinary arts led him to Las Vegas in 2000, where he embarked on a remarkable career spanning iconic establishments such as the Stratosphere, Le Cordon Bleu Las Vegas, La Cave at the Wynn, Gordon Ramsey Steak, Honey Salt and Momofuku. With a repertoire that boasts a fusion of Southern cuisine with Latin American, Pan Asian, and European influences, Chef Sterling brings a fresh and unique perspective to palate, inviting guests to embark on a culinary journey unlike any other.
Complementing Chef Sterling’s culinary prowess is the dynamic duo of Marisa Martino and Rudy Aguas, the driving forces behind Bar-kada Hospitality. With over three decades of combined experience in the hospitality industry, Marisa and Rudy are synonymous with excellence and innovation. Marisa’s illustrious career has seen her excel in various roles with top restaurant companies such as Robert Irvine, N9NE Steakhouse, and Station Casinos, while Rudy has made his mark at iconic Las Vegas establishments including Wynn & Encore and the Venetian – Palazzo. Together, they bring a wealth of expertise in concept development, operational management, and guest experience enhancement to palate, ensuring every guest visit is a memorable one.

In addition to paying homage to local artists by featuring their work in-restaurant, Aguas shares that the names of their unique cocktails are in homage to their aunts and uncles, one example being Aunt Rosalina who was the rock that held the family together which inspired their specialty cocktail, called “Rosalina” beautifully made with huckleberry vodka, elderflower liqueur, hibiscus syrup, lime and rose water.

Palate, the newest venture from Bar-kada Hospitality with Chef Sterling Buckley, is set to redefine Modern Americana dining in the Downtown Las Vegas Arts District.
