An Uptick in Mental Health Crises and Mental Health Awareness Post-Pandemic Contributed to the Creation of NV Behavioral Health Services
LAS VEGAS, NV – NV Behavioral Health Services (NVBHS) is the newest mental health service launching in Nevada. The service aims to provide affordable therapy options for clients, all while ensuring that clients are matched with the right therapist for their needs.
NV Behavioral Health Services was founded by couple Matthew and Crystal Sheldon. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they noticed an uptick in mental health crises and mental health awareness and were inspired to start their own medical service to help those in need.
Matthew Sheldon is the grandson of two prominent women who made large contributions to the local Las Vegas community. Myrna Williams was the Clark County Commissioner in Nevada in the 1990s and helped to improve conditions in local schools through her work in multiple school and organization boards. Harriet Sheldon founded the UNLV School of Social Work and was the chair of the Department of Social Services. She paved the way and built the foundation for other social workers and therapists in Las Vegas. His familial deep roots in the Las Vegas community were another contributing factor to why he and Crystal started NVBHS.
Crystal Sheldon is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and is bringing in fully licensed LCSWs and licensed marriage family therapists (LMFT) to NVBHS to ensure that clients receive the care they need from trained professionals. With their combined passion and experience, the Sheldons aim to help the local Las Vegas community get the help they need and bring a newfound awareness to promoting mental wellness.
“As we attempt to navigate this new post COVID world, we are finding that there is such a demand for not only more therapists, but great ones!” said Matthew Sheldon. “Mental health has taken on new meaning…not just for our individual challenges, but to increase our overall wellness. Crystal and I are thrilled to bring a fresh perspective on therapy and behavioral health to Clark County.”
NV Behavioral Health Services is accepting new clients starting August 1.
