RENO, Nev. – The Reno Rodeo Foundation (RRF) is pleased to announce the selection of Cheree Boteler as its new executive director, effective March 11, 2024. With extensive strategic leadership experience in executive roles within the nonprofit sector, Boteler brings a wealth of expertise in marketing, fundraising, business development and community engagement.
“Cheree’s expertise coupled with her genuine passion for our mission is a winning combination. Her knack for strategic leadership and building meaningful connections will play a pivotal role in steering our foundation towards even greater success,” said Debby Herman, President of the RRF and SVP of Nevada State Bank. “Our board, volunteers, agency partners, supporters, as well as the children, youth, and families we serve look forward to working closely with Cheree and witnessing the positive impact she’ll make in our community.”
In her most recent role as Chief Marketing Officer at STEP2, Boteler demonstrated exceptional leadership by overseeing marketing, advertising, media relations and development initiatives. She played a pivotal role in planning and executing successful fundraising and awareness events, resulting in significant increases in general donations and net income.
Prior to her role at STEP2, Boteler spent over two decades at NV Energy, where she served as senior marketing specialist and project manager. During her 21-year tenure, she achieved progressive growth within marketing and business development and played a crucial role in directing and managing successful community outreach programs that increased awareness of NV Energy and its services.
Boteler has a history of success in strategy development, process improvement, contract negotiation and relationship networking. Her ability to establish and maintain strategic relationships with donors, volunteers, community leaders and media professionals aligns with the RRF’s mission to build and leverage community partnerships to fund scholarships and support children with extraordinary needs in 14 Northern Nevada counties.
Beyond her professional responsibilities and accomplishments, Boteler is actively involved in the community, with leadership roles in organizations such as Change the Cycle, Inc., Reno Ice, and past involvement with Nevada Hospitality Industry Partnerships and The Chamber’s Leadership Reno-Sparks.
