Broadbent & Associates, Inc. (Broadbent) is pleased to announce the addition of Nicholas Powell to the Cultural Resources team in Nevada. Powell, who joined the company in 2022 as an architectural historian, is based out of Colorado and will be adding the Silver State to his project portfolio. His responsibilities will include contributing to cultural resources reports, completing architectural surveys, and assisting clients through Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).
“Nick has already shown that he is an excellent complement to our cultural resources team in Denver since his hire last year,” said Margo Memmott, Cultural Resources Division Manager and Associate Archaeologist at Broadbent. “He is knowledgeable about the architectural history of Colorado, and is eager to learn more by playing a supporting role on projects in Nevada and Utah. We are confident that he will continue to contribute to the company’s success as a senior staff architectural historian and are excited for his future within the company.”
Prior to joining Broadbent, Powell worked at Terracon Consultants and Jeppesen, a Boeing Company. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Historic Preservation from Southeast Missouri State University and is pursuing a master’s degree from the University of Colorado-Denver. Powell has received numerous recognitions within his field and in 2016 won the award for Outstanding Community Education at the Missouri Main Street Conference. Additionally, he has successfully listed a historic property in Billings, Montana on the National Register of Historic Places.
Powell is the founder and manager of a specialized Colorado Avalanche fan group that works directly with the Colorado Avalanche and other non-profit organizations. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing ice hockey, and studying genealogy.
